It was built because a real building business needed it, and it is used there every day.

The founder is the first customer
LilaCRM is built by Chris Nesbit, who runs Hampshire Premier Construction. It runs that business's customers, jobs, bills, bank and VAT today. Every rough edge is found on a real Monday morning, not in a focus group.
Where it is now
The web app is live and in daily use. The iPhone app is in TestFlight. Launch pricing is set, websites already send enquiries straight in, and LilaCRM opens to its first businesses shortly.
What early backing helps build
Bringing the first businesses on board properly: onboarding and moving records across from other systems, the Android app, a practice view for accountants, and the support that makes a small business trust its books to someone new.

SEIS — the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme
Lila Software Development Ltd is a young UK company of the kind SEIS was designed for, and we intend to apply to HMRC for SEIS advance assurance before taking investment. Where SEIS applies, the reliefs for an eligible UK taxpayer are generous:
- 50% income tax relief on up to £200,000 invested in a tax year — £10,000 invested can reduce your income tax bill by £5,000.
- No capital gains tax on growth in the shares if they are held for at least three years.
- Loss relief — if the company fails, the loss net of the income tax relief can be set against income tax or gains.
- Reinvestment relief — half of a capital gain reinvested in SEIS shares can be exempt from capital gains tax.
SEIS status is not confirmed until HMRC gives advance assurance and the company meets the conditions when the shares are issued (among them: trading for less than three years, fewer than 25 employees, gross assets under £350,000, and no more than £250,000 raised under SEIS). Reliefs depend on your own circumstances, must be claimed by you, can be withdrawn if the conditions stop being met, and tax rules can change. Please take independent tax advice.
